Die DENIC eG ist die zentrale Registrierungsstelle für alle Domains unterhalb der Top Level Domain .de. Ihre Aufgaben sind vielfältig: So stellt sie für die Domainverwaltung ein automatisches elektronisches Registrierungssystem zur Verfügung, betreibt ein Netz von über die ganze Welt verteilten Nameservern und hält für die deutsche Internet Community eine ganze Reihe weiterer Dienstleistungen bereit.

The owner of nic.at is the non-profit Internet Foundation Austria (IPA) whose purpose is the promotion of the Internet in Austria. nic.at regards itself as a competence center of expertise as well as a contact point for questions about domains and the Austrian Internet. It regularly publishes news on all kinds of issues related to the domain world.
